Our purpose is to be friendly, kind and welcoming to people anytime they walk through our doors. We actively look for the opportunity to help others feel comfortable and noticed. Our vision is for them to see Jesus in our actions towards them and others.
Hospitality Teams
Decorating (Karla Milthaler)
o How often: Approximately 6 times per year
o What you’ll do: Help with putting away the previous season’s/holiday’s decorations and put up the new in the Lobby and Sanctuary. For Christmas, decorating extends to trees at Door 1 and Door 4 as well. Decorations include table top, wreaths on doors, and simple decorations in the Sanctuary along the windows, the opposite wall, and sometimes the platform.
Coffee Bar (Matt & Dawn Longbrake)
o How often: Primarily Monthly on Sundays. May be called upon for special events.
o What you’ll do: Move the coffee bar carts into position, brew the coffee into hot pots and bring to the lobby coffee cart. Place sugar, creamers, cups, lids, etc. on the carts. Place hot pot of water for hot chocolate and small bottles of water.
Attendance Counters (Larry Donahue)
o How often: Bi-weekly or monthly on Sundays, 1st or 2nd service
o What you’ll do: Count those in attendance per detailed instructions provided by coordinator and record on the recording form. Update the tracking sheet located in the church office with attendance totals.
Greeters (Beth Thobe)
o How often: Monthly on Sundays
o What you’ll do: Be the first friendly face a person sees when walking through any of our doors. Be friendly and welcoming, genuinely glad to see them. If don’t recognize someone, ascertain whether they are a visitor and if so, direct or even accompany them to the Hospitality Deacon or Welcome Center Attendants or to child check-in.

o What you’ll do: Introduce self to visitor, give them welcome gift, accompany them to Kid’s Check In if appropriate, so them where the restrooms and coffee are, direct them to the Sanctuary, remain in the lobby/Welcome Center 15 minutes past the beginning of service and attempt to reconnect with visitors after service.

Congregational Care
Our church is a family, and families care for one another. Our team serves those experiencing illness, recovery, grief, disability, aging, or other life circumstances by providing meals, visits, practical assistance, and encouragement, helping ensure that no member of our church family walks through difficult seasons alone.
Congregational Care Teams
Meal Train (Amanda Davidson)
o How often: As needed
o What you’ll do: Watch for notifications from Meal Train administrator and willingly sign up to take a spot on the meal train. Prepare and deliver the meal as scheduled.
Visiting Homebound (Randy Clark)
o How often: Monthly or Bi-Monthly
o What you’ll do: Visit with the elderly and other homebound attenders to socialize and pray with.
Funeral Meals (Deb Daniel)
o How often: As needed.
o What you’ll do: Prepare a side dish or dessert as requested, bring to the location of the dinner (almost always at the church building), and help with table setting, buffet set up, serving, and clean up.

Our team serves as the steward of our property and furnishings, keeping an eye on all aspects of the building and landscaping. We provide upkeep and minor repairs as well as set up and tear down for special events.

Security

Opening: Unlock the 3 main doors, turn on lights, secure fire doors open, turn on both tv’s in the lobby and start the welcome slide loop, place the Drop Off and Main Entrance signs in position.
Closing: Turn off sanctuary lights and make sure doors are closed, turn off all lights throughout the building, close all fire doors, lock all outside doors, turn off tv’s in lobby, return outdoor signs to storage locations.
General Security (Sundays, Special Events)
o How often: As scheduled.
o What you’ll do: Serve on a rotating security team (when not on rotation, we expect you to be attending worship. These include special events, open and closing building, camera monitoring systems. Complete required "basic training" provided by Shelby County Sheriff's Office (CCW and Church Security) Participate in on-going training and certifications to include first
training aid, AED/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, etc. (other churches in the area train one Sunday afternoon a month for 2-3 hours). This would also include live-fire range training as well as scenario-based(including air-soft / simulation type training). Training with and in other churches. Demonstrated ability to handle a firearm safely (loading, unloading, reloading, drawing, and holstering are all part of the initial and on- going training) and to pass basic annual firearm proficiency qualification (same annual qualification used by law enforcement). Provide your own firearm, ammunition, holster, etc. Some training
ammunition will be provided by the church when available. Be able and willing to keep the people of Connection Point Church of God safe. Must have attended Connection Point for a year and be willing to sign team covenant. Criminal history and background check will be required.

Outreach
The Outreach Team provides opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus, following Jesus’s command found in Acts 1:8, “…you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. ” We define our areas as Local, National, and Global. The team is responsible for local outreach projects, local partners selection, disaster relief, the missionaries we support financially as a congregation, and mission trips.

We experience important milestones in our teen years! Students are making life-changing decisions and discoveries between the ages of 12-18. This reality drives our Student Ministry. Students from 7th-12 grade experience challenging teaching, consistent small groups, and lots of fun and laughter. We want every student to know that they are known and loved by God, that they are not alone, and that they can experience a life-changing, everyday relationship with Jesus.

o What you’ll do: Facilitate conversation in small group setting after lesson and follow up outside of gatherings. Could include attending school and extra curricular activities, the occasional meet-up for coffee, etc.

o What you’ll do: Serve as extra chaperones or fill-in leaders for mission trips, youth conventions, special events, and as needed at weekly gathering.

Teacher Helper
o How often: 1-4 times a month, for 45-70 minuteso What you’ll do: Support the teacher by engaging with kids, helping with
activities, assisting with classroom needs, and encouraging positive behavior. No lesson preparation is required—you’re there to help the teacher, pray for all and love on the kids!

o What you’ll do: Welcome families as they arrive, help parents check their children in to our computer system, answer questions, print labels, and help make the check-in process smooth and welcoming for everyone.

o What you’ll do: Help wherever needed in Kids Ministry on Sunday mornings. This may include assisting classrooms, helping with check-in, covering volunteer needs, welcoming families, or helping with transitions between services.
Nursery Care
o How often: 1 time a month for 90 minutes
o What you’ll do: Provide loving and attentive care for babies and toddlers while their parents attend the service. This includes playing with children, comforting them, feeding as needed, and helping keep the nursery clean and welcoming.
General Help
o How often: 1-2 times a month for 1-2 hours
o What you’ll do: Help behind the scenes to keep Kids Ministry running smoothly. This may include organizing supplies, preparing materials, cleaning classrooms, restocking, decorating, or helping with special projects and events.
Event Planning & Help
o How often: Up to 6 times per year, 1-2 hours
o What you’ll do: Help plan and prepare for special Kids Ministry events such as Christmas, Easter, VBS, and other kids' events throughout the year. You might help with brainstorming, decorating, organizing, preparing supplies, or assisting during the event. Choose the events that work best for you—you can help with one event or several!
Background Check Required.

Adult Ministries exists to help adults grow in their faith and connect in meaningful community at every stage of life. Through ministries for women, men, married couples, and adults with disabilities, we create spaces where people can be known, supported, and encouraged to live out their faith everyday.
