What We Believe

Becoming an Everyday Disciple, Living as an Everyday Missionary, Everywhere

Jesus is changing our lives.

Jesus will radically change your life.
Life-Change is a daily process of us becoming Everyday Disciples.

We value prayer

Prayer is the way we communicate with our Heavenly Father.
A strong relationship with the Father is built through a strong prayer life.

We value God's Word.

God communicates with us through the stories, poetry, and letters to and from his people (the Bible).
God uses His Word to teach us, shape us, equip us, and deepen our relationship with Him.

We value our neighbor

People matter to God. People matter to us.
God loves people so much that he sent Jesus to make a way for us to be with Him.

We value serving others

Serving allows us to be the hands and feet of God and practice generosity to those around us.
Utilizing our unique gifts, skills, talents, finances, and experiences we
are to serve with all our hearts, following Christ’s example.

We Believe

About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe.  He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God (Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22;  Psalms 90:2;  Matthew 28:19;  1 Peter 1:2;  2 Corinthians 13:14).

About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross.  He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.  Jesus is the only way to have a relationship with God, the Father. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13).

About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God.  He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ.  He is also available to any believer who opens up their life to Him.  He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.  He gives every believer a spiritual gift.  As Christians we should seek to live under His control daily (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8, 19:1-7; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16;  Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18).

About the Bible
The Bible is God's Word to us.  It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.  Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5).

About People
People are the supreme object of God's creation.  Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin".  This attitude separates people from God; causes many problems in life; and ultimately leads to death (Genesis 1:27; Psalms 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1,2).

About Salvation
Salvation is God's free gift to us but we must accept it.  We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.  Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty.  When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved.  Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1).

About Assurance of Salvation
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is assured of salvation. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this assurance (1 John 1:9, 5:11-12; Romans 10:9-10; 2 Timothy 1:12; John 1:12; Ephesians 2:8).

About Eternity
People were created to exist forever.  We will exist eternally either separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally separated from God is Hell.  To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life.  Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence (John 3:16, 14:17; Romans 6:23, 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9).

About Marriage
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4).

About Faith Markers
We practice three visible faith markers, called ordinances, as reminders of Jesus’ life and death. The first is baptism by immersion. The second is the Lord’s Supper, often called Communion. The third is foot washing. We believe these three actions are vital to our faith in following Christ’s example. (Mark 1:9-11, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 11:23-32, John 13:4-17).

About the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage of condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Psalm 139).
