Generosity Starting Today
In Acts 20, we encounter Paul's farewell address to the Ephesian elders—his final words to people he deeply loved. What would we say if we knew it was our last conversation with those we care about? Paul chose to remind them that Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive. Remarkably, these words of Jesus aren't recorded in the Gospels, reminding us that the early church shared stories of Jesus orally in house churches before Scripture was compiled. The message goes beyond financial giving to embrace a wider view of generosity—our time, abilities, attention, and resources. The call isn't about meeting church budgets or capital campaigns—it's about developing a muscle of generosity that transforms how we see our neighbors, our community, and our world. When we give generously, we're saying 'I see you' to others, and ultimately pointing them to a God who sees them too.
